In 1998 I spontaneously began to experiment with miniature abstract paintings. Once I had gained a bit of confidence I began to work on a larger scale, but it took 10 years before I was ready to attempt a really big one. This painting started life as a one-hour performance for a few friends. The idea was to see whether I could successfully combine Tai Chi, dancing and painting. While the performance was well received, I felt dissatisfied with the painting as a painting, and continued to work on it over the following two months.
